Athens Music Scene Comes Together at the Odd Street Bloc Party
This Saturday April 14th, the second installment of the Odd Street Bloc Party is back with a huge lineup of bands and food from Mama Bird's Granola! Music starts at 4pm, but the party won't be stopping until 2am! The performances will be taking place at three residences on Odd Street (275, 364, 527).
In addition to all the fun in store, this event will also be a fundraiser for Mariah Parker for County Commissioner since Odd Street is in District 2.
Check out the Facebook event page for details, and learn more about the bands playing below! We've included a performance schedule at the end of this article.

What are the band’s influences (musically and otherwise)?
We tend to be motivated by surrealism (both musically and otherwise). We look for music and art that views the real world through new lenses. The visuals of Salvadore Dali, Eran Hileli, or the newfound medium of AI image processing (like Google's Deep Dream or Style Transfer algorithms, which is how we created our album art) really inspire us to try to create landscapes with our sound. Most obviously, we draw influence from Talking Heads and LCD Soundsystem, as well as those who influenced them like Fela Kuti and Liquid Liquid. We've also taken inspiration from neopsychedelia like Tame Impala and Radiohead.

Psychedelic Dance
More creatively: We have gained access to an alternate universe where M.C. Escher made dance beats instead of drawings. Our whole songwriting strategy is just ripping him off.

What metaphor would you use to describe your sound? (feel free to be creative on this one)
The sound of a simile that doesn’t have “like” or “as” in it; a bunch of question marks; an exhilarating bar scene; the waves of our egos crashing into your ear holes.
