#TurnUpTheVolume Friday - "Talk to Me" by Zac Chase

Looking for something to #turnupthevolume through your weekend?

Local UGA student and hip hop artist Zac Chase released his single “Talk to Me” this past Tuesday on all platforms.

“I looked back at some texts and found that I started writing this song on December 13th. The length of my writing process varies. This song took me over a month to get finalized, with double digit sittings. I actually rewrote parts of both of the verses and only figured out the final chorus while recording the song mid-January,” said Zac.

New comer to the townie scene, Zac has quickly made a name for himself with his hypnotic flow and intricate rhymes. Although we’re all eager to hear a full project from him, he says that he’s working on establishing a stronger brand and honing in on a sound before that happens. However, “we’re getting there.” In the meantime, this single “Talk to Me” produced by Z Will from Blu Majic Beat Co. serves to show us where the artist is currently at. And it’s pretty dope in true Zac Chase catchy-style.

“‘Talk to Me’ is about how I want people to speak their minds (to me or anyone!) and explain themselves, because the best way to make progress in this world is to talk. Listening is important, but someone has to be talking in order for someone to listen. Some of the lyrics also touch on our dependence on our phones and my growth as an artist as a result of my influences/conversations. There are a lot of ideas to unpack in the verses, but the chorus outlines my message,” said Zac.

He will be bringing this message to Little Kings in downtown Athens next Friday as he performs alongside legend Nickelus F from Virginia (event here). Zac’s goal as an artist is to “spread good energy, improve my communication skills, relate to people through my music.” So far, it seems like he’s on the path for success.

“Content-wise, I'm looking to put out some crazy music videos with my guy Pete. And I want to improve at maintaining particular themes in a given song. Sometimes I can be all over the place, ya know?” said Zac.
