T.W.I.N. Releases "V-DAY" Vibes
Baton Rouge-born hip hop and R&B artist T.W.I.N. dropped a set of V-DAY singles, including “PLAYER’S CLUB” and “RIGHT BACK.” There’s plenty of time to still update your Valentine’s Day playlist, and after taking a listen, you’ll want to. These are the leading singles on an upcoming album, date still to be announced (so watch out for that).
“I think I’m returning to the old version of myself as far as themes in R&B, but now it’s like a more evolved version. I’ve had time to improve my lyricism and flow, and I’m also producing now, so I can shape beats to my ideas and not try to settle with beats from YouTube,” said T.W.I.N.
“PLAYER’S CLUB” hits your chest with resonating bass as T.W.I.N. commands, “Dance for me.” The artist produced this beat, considering it the “best mixed R&B beat that I’ve produced. I’ve been recording with Trvy and picking up tips from him, so it was cool seeing the change from a few months ago.” “RIGHT BACK” continues with a similar mellow vocal style but with much punchier and energetic drums to keep you moving. Both singles stay in the R&B lane, a genre that brings out the “toxic” side of the artist’s music.
“When I first started creating music, it was for mental health and coping reasons. As I created more, I found a love for it and kept going at it and improving until my name was in doors before I was in the room. Nowadays, it’s just whatever comes to mind,” said T.W.I.N.
Drawing inspiration while scrolling on TikTok or Reels as well, T.W.I.N. has soaked in knowledge from the world around her and worked at bettering her craft. After learning a bit about the recording process at UGA’s music business program, it became clear that the organization did not offer as much long-term help to her genre (often favoring country and pop artists). She’s been making moves to immerse herself in the local hip hop scene and network between Athens and Atlanta.
“When a peer of mine made a student music organization (DOPE AA), I made a bit more connections and remained friends with most of those members even though the organization has since disbanded. In fact, when I won a big contest in 2019, I made sure to put my friend Deion D Fist’s name in the building so that he could attend as well. I also brought my friend DJ Vision along with me for my first big performance at Center Stage (Vinyl),” said T.W.I.N.
Building community and improving her skills makes T.W.I.N. a local artist to keep an eye on. Be sure to follow T.W.I.N. on Instagram and Twitter, and stream those singles now.
