Niño Brown Releases "Judge Judy" Music Video
Local multi-genre artist Niño Brown made a big impact through the fall and winter with a steady stream of releases and accompanying music videos. Today, he premiered the music video for “Judge Judy,” the last single to drop ahead of his Redbone album release.
Right away it’s clear that the style and tone of this video is much different from previous releases off this upcoming album—”Summer Rain” visually focused on the artist at a local motorcycle bar, and “The Internet” felt like a day in the life of Niño Brown, complete with a night-time hip hop show. “Judge Judy” features extensive use of a green screen and video editing from Brasher Media that encourages the viewer to “suspend disbelief” and let the song carry you. In the opening scene, multiples of Niño Brown as different characters line up, which he said really sets the tone for the video.
“I was listening to the new Juice Wrld record when I wrote this, but once I got into the studio to record it, Kxng Blanco took on the role of co-producer. So it really turned into a unique composition,” said Niño Brown. “After all is said and done, I really get major Usher vibes, and recently I realized how it reminded me of something off the Justin Beiber album Changes, which I listened to repeatedly during quarantine.”
In Niño Brown’s songwriting process, he usually comes up with his video treatment at the same time as he’s writing. He’s very hands-on through all aspects of the creation.
“I think there’s such visual imagery that is naturally conjured up from the lyrics in this one—it really sort of wrote itself. Of course Brasher Media is a powerhouse, and they definitely had a lot of input. This song and video is a total collaboration and wouldn’t be as satisfying any other way. It’s too perfect to try and take credit for it myself,” said Niño Brown.
