#Monthly Monday Album Pick of the Month

Arguably one of the greatest rappers of all time, Lil Wayne aka Dewayne Carter aka Tunechi dropped the long awaited Tha Carter V last Thursday, September 27th after a seven year hiatus since his last full length studio album.

Sadly, the last studio album drop was followed by lawsuits against his former label Cash Money Records as well as Universal Music Group. Wayne has taken somewhat of a blow due to Birdman, Cash Money, Universal, and the legal trouble preventing him from releasing album number 12 from this season. In spite of this, he has continued to further his apparel line Trukfit, expand his skate park, become an even better skater F.Y.I, and released a few mixtapes as well as the EP In Tune We Trust (2017).

It would seem the old saying “good things come to those who wait” may be an understatement. According to Rolling Stone, Universal settled the first of Mr. Carter’s lawsuits awarding Lil Wayne with well over $10 million and eliminating his deal with Cash Money. Tha Carter V itself has a variety of songs, boasting 23 tracks, not to mention featuring several other well known artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Ashanti, Snoop Dogg, Travis Scott, and more.

While criticism is at an all time high and opinions are already flooding in from the industry to the street level, we leave you with this: it is up to the listeners to decide what is hot and what is not. So the ultimate question is...was it worth the wait?
